The government has removed the element of assigning weightage marks for educational qualification and experience as also interview from the process to recruit village revenue officers (VRO) and village revenue assistants (VRA).
It has also announced a fresh recruitment schedule under which candidates will be selected purely on basis of performance in written test. As many as 7,235 posts, 1,172 of them of VROs, are being filled through this recruitment.
The proposal to give weightage marks and conduct interview has been dropped following apprehensions expressed that these might be used by officials to favour some candidates.
The schedule for recruitment was finalised afresh by the Cabinet Sub-Committee after its meeting here on Tuesday presided over by its chairman and Revenue Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy.
Mr Reddy told reporters that notification for both categories of posts would be issued on December 7. The last date for receiving applications online: December 29; conduct of written test January 30; announcement of results February 15 and; issuing of appointment orders before February 24. The minimum qualification and age prescribed for VRO posts are Intermediate and 34 years, and for VRA posts Class X and 35 years. In case of SCs, SCs and BCs, the age limit is relaxed by five years for VRO posts. This facility is not be allowed for BCs for VRA posts.
The State Government has initiated the process of filling up all the Village Revenue Officers (VROs) posts in different districts.
The Government has decided to enhance the salary being paid to Village Revenue Officers from the existing Rs. 1,900 to Rs. 4,000 in line with the significant increase in work burden.
As part of efforts to strengthen the revenue machinery at the grass root level, the Government had given its go ahead for filling up the vacant mandal revenue officers’ posts, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said.
Participating in the state council meeting of the Confederation of Revenue Employees of Andhra Pradesh here on Sunday, the Chief Minister criticised the Telugu Desam Government for diluting the revenue system at village level.
Responding to the demands put forth by the confederation, Dr. Reddy assured to positively consider the demand for filling vacant group IV posts in the department.
Confederation chairman N. Ananda Rao urged the State Government to concede the long pending demand for compassionate appointments and payment of pensions to VROs
